About Dr. Abigail Abbas, LCPC
You Don’t Have to Carry This Alone
I’m Dr. Abigail Abbas, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I work with clients who identify as high achievers and struggle to slow down and prioritize themselves. Many clients come to me feeling stuck in patterns that aren’t serving them or burnt out from systems they are existing in. Together we will explore what parts of your life are feeling heavy, the parts of you that you tend to turn away from and the parts of you that are craving to feel more heard and seen.
At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that we all have what we need within us to heal.
While coping skills are valuable, I believe meaningful, lasting change comes from deepening your understanding of the strengths and complexities already within you. That’s why my work is grounded in relational, psychodynamic, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) principles. I focus on how you relate to yourself and others, and I see the therapeutic relationship as a powerful agent of change.
Together, we’ll explore your past and present experiences with curiosity, empathy, insight—and sometimes a little humor.
Though my foundation is relational, therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. I tailor my approach to meet your unique needs, goals, and personality. Depending on what feels right for you, I may incorporate tools from mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, or EMDR to support your growth
Inclusive & Affirming Care
My practice is rooted in the values of Health at Every Size (HAES) and intuitive eating, with an anti-diet, fat-positive perspective. I work with clients from diverse backgrounds and hold a strong awareness of how systems of oppression can impact mental health. I strive to create a safe, inclusive space for all and am LGBTQIA+ affirming and an actively learning ally to all forms of diversity.

More About Abby
I grew up in Philadelphia and studied locally for my undergraduate and graduate studies. During this time, I discovered the value of therapy since it offered me a way to have a safe space to process my many transitions to student and adult life. My life experiences and continued growth through my own therapy have fueled my passion for empowering others to reconnect to their meaning and purpose in life too.
In my free time, you can find me spending quality time with family and friends, reading a good book or taking a leisurely walk and hanging out with my cat Cocco2.
